What is Pregnyl?
Pregnyl is a fabulous medication regularly used for the treatment of infertility in a woman has not gone through menopause. It contains hormone that facilitates the normal growth of an egg in a woman's ovary, and promotes the release of an egg during ovulation and enhances sperm count in man. Pregnyl can also be used to manage the Hypogonadism (testicular development problems), promoting the development of secondary sexual characteristics in certain patients and cure boys of 4 to 9 years old who have testicles that have not moved into the scrotum.
How Pregnyl works?
Pregnyl contains HCG- Human Chronic Gonadotropin as primary ingredient, which has actions effectively identical to the luteinizing hormone (LH). This medication causes the growth and maintenance of the corpus lutetium and the formation of progesterone. After HCG administration, final luteinization or maturation of the oocytes occurs and either ovulation can develop when the pregnancy develops placenta itself produce HCG to continue the pregnancy. HCG Pregnyl also produces its action in a different way for the treatment of Hypogonadism and other disorder.
What is the dosing regimen of Pregnyl?
Pregnyl is an injectable preparation administered via the intramuscular or subcutaneous route. The dose of this medication differs and depends on the intended indication. For the management of infertility, the normal dose is 5000 to 10,000 IU 1 day following the last dose of Menotropins. To control Hypogonadism in male, the usually adult dose is 500 to 1000 units IM three times a week for 3 weeks followed by the same dose two times a week for 3 weeks.
Possible side effects:
The use of Pregnyl may likely to show some common side effects such as pain, bruising, or redness at the injection site, swelling, nausea, vomiting, rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, nausea, and headache.
What are the warning and precautions while using Pregnyl?
- You must not drive or perform any unsafe work until you feel well as this medication dizziness.
- Quit intake of alcohol to thwart the unconscious effects.
- Never use this medication in case of allergic condition to any ingredient in Pregnyl or suffering from liver and kidney disorder, blood disorder.
- A pregnant and lactating mother should not use this medication or consult the doctor in the same condition.
