Aziderm Cream is a marvelous medication that has a phenomenal application in the treatment of acne, pimples, blemishes, blackheads, spots and other conditions of the skin. The active drug moiety that is present in Aziderm Cream is Azelaic acid. Due to its skin brightening properties, it is also very useful in reducing the hyperpigmentation (melasma) of the skin.
Mechanism of action of Aziderm Cream 10%:
Azelaic acid present in Aziderm cream shows its action mechanism by inhibiting the action of an enzyme known as tyrosinase, which in turn helps in the reduction in the synthesis of the skin pigment known as melanin. This assists to endorse depigmentation and standardize the areas of skin, which have been exaggerated by excess pigmentation. In this way, Aziderm Cream helps in clearing up the skin blemishes and preventing the outbreak of the new acne.
The dosage regimen of Aziderm Cream 10%:
Commercially, Aziderm 10% Cream is available as a topical preparation. You should wash your hands and face with a gentle cleanser before applying Aziderm 10% cream. Take a small portion of the cream and apply with your clean fingers into the affected area of the skin, two times a day. You should wash your hands well after use and avoid the use of this cream around your eyes, nose, and mouth. Do not use a larger amount of this cream into your face as it may increase the side effects of this cream like irritation. You can see an improvement within 4 weeks but it will take several weeks or months to give best results.
Contraindications of Aziderm Cream 10%:
If you are allergic or hypersensitive to Azelaic acid or any other ingredient of Aziderm cream then you should not take this medication.
Precautions while taking Aziderm Cream 10%:
- Aziderm Cream should not be used in case of pregnancy and in lactation.
- You should not expose your skin directly to the sunlight after applying this medication as it may cause severe sunburns to your skin. You can apply sunscreen and protective clothing before going outside.
- Patients should not use this medication for more than 6 months.
Side effects of Aziderm Cream 10%:
Some common side effects of Aziderm Cream include stinging sensation, dryness on the treating area, irritated feeling, itching, tingling, and burning.
